Perfect
Purchased this to replace an older one that had frozen up and was causing water to leak from our pool. It was easy to install and works perfectly. The challenging part of the installation was removing the old spider gasket (order separately) from the valve housing. Someone had gone overboard with the Permatex gasket glue. All in all, this is a fine product and well worth the price charged.

Great replacement for Pentair SM2-PP2 / Valve SM-20-2
I read a few reviews where the item was not a perfect fit so I was a bit concerned but read more info and it looked like the right item. Sure enough, a perfect fit. The old valve was almost completely stuck as the internal spring mechanism wouldn't budge. It was also tearing up the spider gasket which I had just replaced. I replaced a few of the nuts and bolts with equivalent stainless steel ones from a local DIY store and the job was a complete success. Easy rotation, no issues with the gasket and a much better price than the local pool stores. This part comes with the o-ring so no worries. Replace the spider gasket and use RTV Gasket Maker (Permatex) to get the spider gasket fixed in place. Whole job cost less than $120 in parts and did the work in about 20-30 minutes (plus a little time for the RTV silicone to dry).

the valves have a revision # that is not listed in the product info
the valve I purchased does not work. the new valve is a revision H. my pool valve is a revision C. nowhere in the product info is there mention of various revisions or whet revision will be sent. the return window is closed or past so I am out $122. even if I wanted to purchase the correct revision I am not able to because none of the Pentair info mentions a revision #. YES all the other part numbers match! NOT HAPPY

It works.....
The original was made of heavier plastic material and the psi rating was higher. The replacement was installed and seems to be working properly considering the material used is lighter plastic. Plus the psi rating is lower too.

Fixed my dripping valve assembly.
This was a perfect replacement for my 13-year-old Pentair SM 20-2. The original Pentair part was deteriorating due to exposure to the elements and had developed surface cracks and a slight drip. Replacing this part along with the include outer gasket is about a 10 minute job requiring nothing more than a screwdriver and a crescent wrench. My own repair took closer to an hour because I decided that while I was in there, I should replace the Pentair American Products 2" Side Mount P Series Multiport Valve Spider Gasket G-417 271148. The spider gasket rests in a groove inside of your valve assembly and wears out over time. Mine was loose in places and had actually "jumped the tracks" and was outside of the grooves and not effectively sealing the different water paths. Read the reviews for the spider gasket to get great tips on how to replace it.

Bolt hole pattern different-NOT
Update 4/28/20: Leaving my original review so that it will help another knucklehead like me. I disregarded the little tab of plastic that provides an alignment mark between the upper valve operator and the body of the valve. If this is not aligned your valve will not be oriented correctly, unfortunately I did this after I applied the sticker in the incorrect orientation...luckily the supplier provided two (albeit a different model number) with similar markings to my original that I used to cover up my mistake. Revising from 1 star to 4, a simple note from the vendor would have prevented me from doing this (yes I do read instructions....)Original 4/27/20:The bolt hole pattern is misaligned from the valve position settings. When you place both valves together the pattern is rotated about 3-5 degrees off of where the original valve is. So when I install it instead of "backwash" at the 12:00 position it's like 11:57. I'm afraid that if I use this thing it will put water where I don't want it. Unfortunately I'm outside of the normal return window as I purchased this in January and am just now getting around to installing it to support opening the pool for the season. I've got an email in to the company to try to return it.
