PROBLEM
why does my direction keep jumping back and forth. the tape does not play at all because of this and i have no sound either. can anyone help?

Cheaply made and poorly crafted!
The CD will not load and I get a message that my computer will be infected. Inserted batteries to listen to tapes but will not play. All in all, don't waste your money!!!

Does Exactly What It's Supposed to Do
I was very skeptical. Could this inexpensive little gadget really transfer old cassette tapes to my computer, and do it easily? Yes and yes.I had it transferring audio to my PC in five minutes. No need for batteries or AC adapter. It runs just fine getting its juice from USB.Of course it has to record in real time. To expect anything else is rather silly. Cassette tapes are analog. To transfer analog, whether it be cassettes or records, the source needs to play the audio in real time.The device has an auto reverse function so both sides of the cassette can be transferred without having to turn the tape over. It uses the clear leader tape to trigger the direction change. A small problem I had was that the device was being triggered about two seconds after pressing the "Play" button. So the tape would go forward for two seconds and then switch directions and play back to the start and stop. I figured out that if I manually turn the hub with my finger so that the actual tape is visible in the area where the playback head touches the tape, this solved that problem.This little gadget doesn't do much, but then, it's not supposed to.

Absolute waste of money
Did not work with my Windows 7 at all. No on board speaker, so can only use as cassette player with ear buds. Save your money.

Converted on MAC with no issues!!
I got this on ebay and it worked great. the only issue i had was that the converter was live time, i wasnt able to to convert wile fast forwarding.. but other then that i was able to convert tapes with no issues.you can make a full songs to one song or you can make in to separate mp3's.oh and another issue that i had was; converting on a MAC this comes with a Mini CD with the software and is no good for MAC so i had to install on a PC and transfer to my MAC (was easy):)
