Alexander, Who's Not (Do You Hear Me? I Mean It!) Going to Move

Good book
Very interesting book. My son loves it and I like it too. When I read it to my son it makes me really rethink about how kids might feel like when he needs to move. Quite helpful for me to communicate with my son.

Okay
The book was okay if you have a kid who is moving but otherwise not applicable. Also it got my grandson to go around saying puke face.

Not as good as Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, but still a good read.
I fell in love with Alexander when he had a bad day. This book was good, don't get me wrong, but nothing compares to the other book. My son does like this book but we always have to follow it up with the "red one" (terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day) in order for him to go to sleep. If you're looking for a cute book to help your child transition from one place to another, THIS IS IT! I highly recommend it for that purpose. However, if you're looking for a book that is just as good as the other, you will be slightly disappointed.

Another great book from J. Viorst
Her book, Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a classic and as a classroom teacher of 15 years I have read it a zillion times. Always a huge hit with the kids.Fast forward a few years and I find myself moving again and decided to read this book to my own children. The pouty main character who is absolutely NOT moving is easy to love and identify with. This book made the idea of a move much easier to talk about with my own kids.Fun for any reason, but a must for a family of young children getting ready to move.

Alexander has some wonderful ways of viewing life.
My son figured out on the back of the Alexander booms there are pictures of the other Alexander books. So one night he asked me to get him the rest of the ones he did not have. This is a good book. It's a bummer Alexander has to move and start his life over.

Cute story. Especially if you're moving!
This is a very cute story. I bought this for my 4 year old son who currently shares the same feelings about our move as Alexander. He tells us daily that he's not leaving our home. This isn't quite as great as Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, but we enjoyed it since it applies to our current situation:)

Having a book that is appropriate for working with first graders is a great help to me.
Arrived promptly. Although I have not read the entire book as of this time, I will refer to it when needed. Have a healthy, prosperous and Happy New Year!

Perfect book for children (and adults!)
The Alexander series represents classic children's books. This one (as with the others) is one to which small children can easily relate. When your children grow, don't give away these books.

Our 6yr old really didn't want to move. This ...
Our 6yr old really didn't want to move. This book has helped him feel understood and cope with the emotions.

We've definitely enjoyed Alexander's day more than he did.
This was very much in the wonderful style of the other two Alexander books. The poor boy can't seem to catch a break. His two older brothers always seem to get what they want and poor Alexander is left without. Does that sound like your little guy or little girl ever? I know mine go through phases where it's the worst day of their lives. In this book, Alexander has to move, so some may feel it's only good for children moving. It would be wonderful for that, but my son enjoys it just as much as the other 2, even though he's never moved at all. We actually get to see that he recognizes that his parents have some sympathy for him, by offering to buy him a dog and make long distance calls to his friends. I liked this, because it shows that maybe the move won't be so bad at all.So, if you enjoyed "Alexander's Terrible, Horrible, Mixed Up, Really Bad Day" and "Alexander, Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday", go ahead and round out your collection. Get this one too. You won't be disappointed.
