In this debut novel, Jill Bearup creates an epic romantasy filled with action, adventure, and romance! Main characters Rosamund and Captain Collins have strong chemistry, and their journey together includes lots of political intrigue. Following the death of her husband Hugo, Jill learns to open up to Collins during their trip to a neighboring kingdom for a peace treaty proposal. In addition the plot of the author Caroline and her Hot Editor Henry is also a hilarious banter between the characters. One of the things that I absolutely adored as well is the Hot best friend Robin who creates the perfect comedic relief in such a serious setting. All in all, the novel is well written and a fantastic read. I finished the entire novel in two days, and I am now hoping for a sequel. Highly recommend this romantasy masterpiece.

Jill Bearup manages to translate her short video heroine series in a compelling book.The result is a somewhat thwarted romance in a fantasy setting with the utter destruction of the fourth wall.What is truly important : it is a delight to read.

What started as shorts on YouTube ended up as a most delightfull book! It is fantasy, fanfiction and breaking the fourthwall all in one, and done with humour and a twinkle in the eye! A book about a writer getting talked to by the caracters in the book in a most amusing way!
