Magnifying x7 loupe
I bought this loupe to use with my Art Panorama 170 camera. Using the loupe on the ground glass to pre-focus. Suitable magnification, and works well.

focal point
The physical structure of this magnifier and ones like it are crucial to how these work, their design purpose and limitations.Indeed these will give you the magnifications at the levels claimed however, these cup shape magnifiers are designed to magnify only in 2 dimensions. Sounds weird and perhaps not technically true but I'll explain. What ever you want to see close up or magnify - must be on a flat surface. For example a bank note on a coffee table. By placing the cup shaped magnifier's bigger opening flat on top of the bank note flat on the table and bringing your eye to the eye-piece, you get to see the magic of magnification.Lif the magnifier a millimeter away from the bank note and you will lose focus. I guess what I mean by not a 3D magnifier is that it doesn't have much of a field of depth. About + or - 2mm at best... So looking at a 3D object, you get that 'bokeh' effect that would be desirable in sharp portrait photographs against industrial blurred background but not what you want when you inspect objects close up.Strictly speaking, you could inspect different depths of a 3D object like a gold ring by holding the magnifier to your eye and bringing the ring close up to the magnifier, then you're limited to the 43mm diameter of the magnifier cup cylinder as anything much bigger than a ring will not fit inside the cup for different depths to be viewed.Perfect if you want to see finer details of prints and other artifacts on flat objects, for example magnifies pixels on your LCD screen so you can see individual RGB leds that make up each pixel.

Carson 10x LumiLoupe Stand Magnifier Loupe
The Carson 10x LumiLoupe Stand Magnifier Loupe is perfect for my requirements. Used to magnify the rear screen of my Nikons, I can now see if my focus is truly dialled in. I don't use this all the time but for those times when focus is critical, I find the little loupe a real bonus.Quality is good and overall, I'm very pleased with the item. I would certainly purchase again if required.

Good value for money
Large and easy to use. Focus point does vary quite a lot which is a problem

Enormous and needed thorough cleaning, but optically OK
The size is as described in the listing. At over 75mm (3") wide at the base, this is a monster loupe. The 10x is apparently smaller, and I didn't spot that this one is so large! Even the lens is 43mm diameter. It did need a very thorough clean, though, as the lenses were covered with small pinpricks, probably left over from the manufacturing process. This made things a bit cloudy and reduced the image contrast. The black ring is on a bayonet fitting and can be twisted and lifted to remove it, allowing the lenses to be removed to clean both sides. After cleaning, the optics seem pretty good—it's not perfectly sharp edge-to-edge, but it's pretty good for the price.
