I just wanted to explain which type of book I would like to get hold of
The general idea of metal grinding, honing and polishing is quite OK.I am working with very acurate optical instruments and for me it is not enough that a surface is shining, it must also be very flat. I missed photos and microscope measurements of the width and depth of the schratches for different grits. By means of such photos and measurements, you will know exactly which sanding you shall start with after you have produced the surfaces in a leather machine for example. In the same way you can compare different polishing compounds so that you are able to buffer the surfaces as quick as possible so that the surface flatness is not spoiled. I have started to produce such photos and measurements for brass. You have to produce such tables for each metal type. This does by no means mean that I am dissatisfied with the book. I just wanted to explain which type of book I would like to get hold of.Best regardsLars S.

Always good
Another fine book is the Workshop Practice series. Check the vendors since the price can vary quite a bit. If you don't mind waiting on shipping from the UK,you can usually find them at a really great price. It's always kind of cool to see The Royal Mail on the package.

Grindin,Honing and Polishing
A good informative book relevant both for professionals and hobby machinists. Some good tips and ideas but not a very practical design for a grinding support table.

Great book with a lot of information.

Laundry list, not tips and techniques
If you get this book looking for useful information about how to do any particular kind of grinding, you'll be disappointed. It's more a laundry of abrasive types and techniques.

So So and Not So Great
Not much really usable information. I was looking more for a procedure and advice. You can learn everything in this book from a website that sells equipment and supplies.

A great little book - extreme value for money
This isn't a pretty book, but it's packed with good info. It goes into the right level of detail and background info for the advanced DIYer, model maker (guitar maker, in my case). Highly recommended.

Not the best book in the series
I have around 20 books in this series. Some are truly excellent and have been a mine of information. This book contains some useful stuff, but not up is not up to the standard of others by the author. If I had had the chance to sample before buying I would probably not have purchased.

Disappointing in content and quality.
A b&w production that doesn’t meet my needs. There are probably better books so look further before buying.
