Women Street Photographers

I tend to collect a lot of photography books, heavily leaning towards street photography. When I received this book and spent time looking through and reading it, I was blown away with the amount of talent represented.At first I found the gender callout in the title may be patronizing to some, I came to realize that it is actually celebrating the fact that there are so many talented female photographers out there creating amazing work, and should be recognized. Especially in a medium that has been male dominated for so long.For me, great work is great work, no matter what the gender, race, or whatever. Everyone sees the world in a different way and this book does a great job showing some of the best diversity of expression and seeing.Also, I found the print quality of the book wonderful, well laid out and not too text heavy for showcasing100 artists. A great street photography (and photography in general) inspiration book for one's collection.

I cannot extol Women Street Photographers enough. Beautiful....and beautifully compiled....photographs of the world......with incredible, interesting descriptions....including a written description of George Sand...born Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin...who defied the law preventing women from wearing slacks in public.....and a photograph of a French street cleaner in 1898....of Palestinian women as they encounter the ocean for the first time.....and...and..and... From the wonderfully written, extremely interesting Forward by Ami Vitale....through each extraordinary photograph, complete with its description by its photographer....it is not only interesting, it highlights the importance of seeing the world through the eternal and unbiased lens of wonderful photography. Bravo to all whose photos are in it for all they do to help us understand the world. And helping us understand the art of photography. Loved it.

This is the best photography book I have ever had. It's a wonderful edition and beautifully printed.Every page I turn is a brilliant point of view, a great capture and frame, and surely a brilliant decisive moment.100 photos, from 100 ladies, 100 stories from around the globe!I highly recommend this book to anyone that is into street photography, women's art, or to anyone that is interested in photography in general.Great value for money!

Street photography is a fascinating art and these photographers chosen to share their work in this book are superb, current with work that mesmerizes. Monica Flannery and Nina Welch-Kling each brought a unique perspective and timeless quality to their cityscape pieces. The book highlights women street photographers, but this collection could simply be re-titled The Best in Street Photography... it truly is.

This is a GREAT compilation of work by women photographers from all over the world, who have traditionally been overlooked and underrepresented in galleries, museums, books and paid photographic work. The layout and curation are inspired. This book will be a fabulous addition to any collection, whether you’re interested in photography or the human condition. Eagerly awaiting Volume II!

Only one photo per artist which was disappointing, but still a great book with great photos.

I seldom write reviews so this is a rarity indeed. The book is beautifully constructed, the photos are without exception splendid, and the brief notes from the photographers help place the images. I do wish there had been more technical info, but that is hardly a deal breaker. This book is a treasure.

This is a concise, well written and excellently produced insight into some of the finest female street photographers. Even though each photographer portrays only one photograph explaining their creation behind it - they all do the book proud justice. I found that I yearned to research the photographers more, most having an Instagram presence. Being an avid street photographer I not only learnt something new, but was inspired to get out and shoot more.Highly recommend to any budding street photographers!

Great publication and a great introduction to women photographers from across the globe. A pity that each photographer is limited to a single image but the quality is superb.

Great book - well worth a blast
