Grande Epicure M009005 Turkey Carving Board with Juice Well and Handles, Wood

I really like this carving board. Solid maple and cute design on the front (I wouldn't use the directions for preparing turkey though). It is big enough for a large turkey. I carved a 16 lb bird on it and had plenty of room. The groove to catch juice is wide and deep and I lost none of the drippings which I recovered for making turkey broth. I used  John Boos 5 Ounce Block Board Cream with Beeswax  to treat the board before use and after I had cleaned it. Didn't have a single stain from the fat or juice of the turkey.

This is a great cutting board for turkeys and other larger roasts. I gave it to someone not accustomed to the art of carving a turkey. The troughs on the sides are nice and large for collecting the juices from a roast. Nicely made and good heft to it. I would have given it 5 stars but, it does take up a lot of room to store it. But, in all fairness, it is the size I wanted.

I have been using this board for 4 months and there are a lot of great things I like about it such as the size, the handles, and the deep well around the edges for catching liquids. However, after about 3 months of use, the wood began to split along the edges and now, any liquids in the well leak out all over the counter.I have always washed it by hand, but after reading more of the reviews, it sounds like I needed to treat it with oil. I wish that some basic care instructions had been included, because I'm afraid I've ruined it. Luckily, it was only $14 and at that price I could just buy another one and hope that proper treatment would prevent the splitting, but I'm still a little wary to try it again.

I am seriously impressed by the cost to size ratio of this. I was looking for a carving board that had nice wide wells so that they could catch plenty of juice and not overflow. I decided to go with this one because of the price. Well it's arrived and I'm very pleased with it. It's very large and the well will handle a fair amount of run off. The whimsical, burned on cartoons and advice adds to this charm.

Cute idea and nice size but the item arrived broken (one handle not attached) really aggravated.

I very rarely leave reviews for items, but thought this was important enough to write. Very cute board and sturdy UNTIL a hot turkey is place on it! I'm not sure if our board was defective, but it "bowed" once our hot turkeys were place on it to carve making it very unstable. The middle of the board was good inch off the counter top. Our turkeys were approximately 16-18lbs/each. I will say the drip grooves around the board were a nice feature. The board returned to normal once it cooled down, but I can imagine after a few uses it probably would have split or cracked. Such a bummer because we received many compliments on how festive it was!

I agree with the others, I will have to sand the handles a little because they are a little rough. I will also oil it with coconut oil, as it is bare wood. The printing is cute and unique. I will hang it in the cupboard by the handle to save space. Looking forward to my next carving. The grooves are deep, which is great.

Needed resanding out of the box. Had to oil the heck out of it not sure it will last more than one thanksgiving. On the positive side, the trough is deep and prevents juices from spill out. Also the turkey facts are nice and it was only $13Update: Added 1 Star. I never would have believed it but it is still going strong! Just have to oil it after use and let it dry on its side.
