Product Description Following THE ART OF SENSUAL MASSAGE book stroke-by-stroke, this award-winning DVD takes you every step of the way through a complete body massage. Watch a stroke on your TV, then try it yourself! You will be doing a sensual massage the first night. Review Two years before he made The Classic Stars of Bellydance, Bay Area filmmaker Gordon Inkeles made this 50-minute film about the art of massage, which played at Cannes and was lauded at film festivals all over the world. Made in 1972, it remains the landmark massage film and is of value as an instruction video and also for the philosophy and sense of history it brings to the subject. In the early '70s, massage was widely thought of in one of two very limiting ways: either as a euphemism for something lewd (at a massage parlor) or as something punishing or vigorous that might happen at a health club. (sex or therapy; as Inkeles puts it). Inkeles' approach is to rescue massage as a full-body experience, one that transmits pleasure, sensuality and relaxation. His film is about the importance of touch; To be touched, carefully and tenderly, is tangible proof that we're not alone; Inkeles says in voice-over - and it gives detailed instructions on how to massage the various parts of the body: the head, the hands, the forearms, the feet, etc. The film is an ideal present for couples to give to each other. It's also a refreshing introduction to a certain period in the early '70s, when it seemed as if the culture were heading toward a more enlightened understanding of the connection between the physical and spiritual lives. --San Francisco Chronicle, Mick LaSalle DVD Reviews --San Francisco Chronicle, Mick LaSalle DVD ReviewsCINE GOLDEN EAGLE, Best Documentary --CINE InternationalBest Documentary --Foothill College Independent Film Festival

A Good Lesson in Massage
Having worked as a massage therapist myself, I found this to be an excellent lesson in the fundamentals of massage. There were a couple of differences. I prefer to use a massage table (one was not used in this film). I can get better leverage and apply appropriate amounts of pressure without overusing my arms or my back. The other difference was the two therapists in this film are unclothed. Now I personally don't massage in the buff, but your preferences in that regard might depend on what activities you and your "client" are going to engage in AFTER the massage!

Not exactly.
This product shows its maturing in the production. Sadly a really complete good massage video hasn't been produced. Too bad the folks at Body Electric haven't been swamped with requests.

Good information, very retro
My spouse and I learned from this video and appreciated that it is an accompaniment to a book that can teach you even more. There are some sequences in the movie about the horror of industrial massage machines that clash abit with the relaxing tone of the rest, but you can just skip those parts.

Three Stars
Not bad, not real informative

Boring
Title says it all, handsome couple, not so much massage. Never buying another video from Amazon., they give poor choices.

Four Stars
Great way to learn how to massage

Zero stars if you have any experience with massage.
Not what I expected. All it consists of is naked people massaging each other in a regular way. There wasn't anything sensual about it in my opinion.

Good, a little outdated but very informative
This is not a bad video, in fact is quite informative. But it has its years, so it feels more like a documentary of a documentary. While this days people trim, wax or shave their body hair, in this video you can go back to "bush"land. But I have to be fair and say that this is a good video, focusing more on the body of the woman.Informative, a good video to start learning about massages.
