As a kitty companion for over 20 years, I have tried a zillion wands, tunnels, & toys. No amount of money was too much to try something that might, even slightly, amuse my BFF. I didn't think the wand idea could be improved upon, but this wand is hands down (or paws up) THE ABSOLUTE BEST.Here's why: it can go farther than others and also is retractable. This makes it possible for kitty to run & jump farther away and allows me safely to entice her hunting instincts without being right in the mix and risk being used as something to climb. The rod itself is smooth and bends gently, like a fishing pole. I prefer to not secure the length so it will slide longer and shorter depending upon how I move it. Its unpredictable & it's incredibly fun.The feather lure is weighted exactly right and is perfect in size. This may seem silly or unimportant, but other wands the lure is sometimes too light. too heavy, too big or too small for active play. This one meets Goldilocks standards :) There is also a bell attached which I was dubious about. But the bell helps for hunting when kitty hides or I am hiding the lure. It's an additional element that I didn't know I needed!The string: stretchy and long. Again, purfection. The length and stretch allow the lure to bounce, flit, and float or my kitty's favorite, to scurry along the floor and swing nicely under a couch or around a bend.I may as well discuss the handle: its comfy and squishy. I've had other wands that the handle is plastic (ugh) and this is nicer to hold.All these elements are simple but add up to make a huge difference and create an exceptional wand. Whoever designed this clearly is a cat lover, did their homework, and paid attention to what kitties & their BFFs need for engaging and lasting play.As for durability, I've had it about a month and my kitty is pretty fierce. It's fine & looks brand new. But honestly, I'm buying more now to stock up as I do not want to find its discontinued by the time I need another one.The investment is low so I didn't even question giving it a try. And you should'nt either. You may not be as critical as I am, but you cat probably is. And they will thank you for the challenge & joy of this toy.

My two little ones are obsessed with this toy! The second it arrived, they were practically tearing at the packaging. I buy toys for them all the time and they rarely play with any of them or if they do, they get bored after one play session, but this one? They can't get enough! One of my kittens (both are a year old) knows where I store this when we're not playing with it and whenever I even walk into that room, he immediately goes to the cabinet where I keep it and starts rubbing all along the door. He knows where it is and he wants to play. Always. It's so funny when he finally "catches" the feather at the end - he starts walking away with it in his mouth and he looks so proud of himself! I love it! One kitten loves the yellow feather, the other wasn't as interested until I switched out for the blue one (they both love the blue). Go figure.I want to give this toy 5 stars because this is the best toy they have and they love it so much - definitely 5 star-worthy - but the first one broke pretty quickly (the wand at the very top snapped). But they loved it so I just put some duct tape around it and kept using it. Then a few weeks ago, another part of the wand snapped, so more duct tape. It just got to the point where the duct tape wasn't really holding it together anymore, so I finally gave in and bought a new one. They didn't care about the broken wand, but it made it harder to play with them with it when the wand was bent. I bought it originally in July and it's now September. First break happened in less than a week, second one happened a month later. Hopefully this one will hold up a little better, though I have a feeling it won't. But they love this toy SO much, I'll just keep duct taping then rebuying as needed. No toy has made them happier. I just wish it was a little stronger.

Four stars because our 14 yr old cat LOVES this toy! She will wake up from a dead sleep at the slightest sound of the feathers rustling to play! She mostly chases it around half-heartedly, but when she gets it she makes sure to sit on it so that we can't play anymore....then complain that we aren't playing! She's silly. My hat's off to the owners of this company! When you buy this toy, they will email you with information, etc. When the metal piece on the end of the wand broke off on day two, I emailed them to let them know of a possible quality defect. They responded with a kind message about how replacement parts are available on Amazon. Then, two days later the fishing pole part of the toy snapped in half near the handle (we pulled the short end out of the handle and shoved the long end in....problem solved). When I wrote them about this incident, they initiated a full refund via Amazon and wrote me an apology letter. When the fishing pole snapped for the third time near the handle I didn't bother writing them as they had already refunded me my money. And truthfully, all breaks happened when our 11 yr old twin boys were playing with their kitty, God knows how hard they were tugging while she was sitting on the feathers! I give this product a good rating because: 1) my cat loves it, and 2) because the company really seems to care about it's customers. I would probably buy this again just because it makes my cat so happy.
