Very versatile and works as it should (so far)...
As a road track and road racing junky I find ANY voluntarily diminished visibility to be totally unacceptable (windshield mounted devices are just plain ignorant), I looked long and hard at mounting devices for an oversize screen phone and pulled the trigger on this one. Though I only have about 500 miles (mixed rural rough NH & VT back roads and highway) of use with this device between my Prius V wagon and a Sienna van, it seems as described and advertised. Quite versatile in positioning, minimal (self created) vibration and holds my rather large LG Optimus G Pro with ease and security. I even offset the phone about 70% to one side to avoid the grip triggering my side volume controls with no issues. If you are not familiar with the ball and cup approach to swiveling a device, I can imagine it possible to break the pieces with too much force, or find it "floppy" with to little tightening. Having experience with high end speaker mounts of the same design I had no trouble at all adjusting this several different times. I even tested it on my office desk mounting it in the gap of the furniture. I can also see where someone might say the phone pops out of the grips as it happened to me only once and I noticed the phone was not all the way to the back of the device on the bottom edge. Once realizing this, it has not happened again.I especially like that it works equally well mounted so the phone is above the CD player or below the CD player, an important fact as it will inevitably block something on every vehicle, whether that be controls, screens or vents. At least you have a choice of what is higher priority. Now if someone made one with ratcheting/tightening arms and elbows like Go Cam mounts, they'd have it licked for positioning.UPDATE - 2/22/14 - many miles logged with this device holding an oversize phone over rough winter tortured NH & VT secondary roads and it has performed excellent! A very occasional slight tweak to the finger screw holding the device in the CD player is all it's required. If it broke today I'd buy another!

Perfect for my F150
This was the third mount I got to try in my 01 F150. I tried a vent mount (blocked the shifter) and a suction cup mount (sucked because the sucker didn't suck) before it. This slides between the top of my radio and the dash plastic perfectly. That way, I can still see my screen. The only complaint I have is that the nob on the bottom to tighten the mount is about 90ft long. Just ridiculously long. I replaced it with a small bolt of the same threads and we're in business.

It works fairly well...
I'm surprised at how well this works... it has stayed firmly in the slot over some rough roads. The GPS has, however, fallen out of it on two occasions. I think some sort of gripping surface is needed on the tabs it fits into. Unfortunately I can no longer see my dash clock, but that's not a fault of the device--it's the result of my dash design. I like having the GPS off the windshield and in my case, it ends up in a near perfect position.

Will not fit an '04 Impala
I was pleased this item came well before the expected delivery date. Looks a little weak but I was willing to give it a shot. Went to mount it in my husband's '04 Impala and there is a dash lip right above the CD slot that prevents the holder from being inserted fully. May keep it and use in my '04 Malibu, which doesn't have that lip in the dash. Still debating on requesting return refund.

good but not great
Product did not give a secure fit with the stock radio in a 2013 Toyota corolla. As a result when paired with a galaxy S4 the weight of the phone caused the arm to go down affecting the viewing angle. Will be returning and look for something else.

It broke my phone...
I would originally have given this five stars were it not for the fact that the arm on the 'ball and socket' snapped (while I was driving along) and dropped my very nice and expensive smartphone onto the console and broke the screen. It is clear that this part of the device is its main weakness. The 'ball' is in fact in two halves and it is clear that it is not strong enough to hold the weight of a 'normal' Galaxy Note phone. Everything else about it is wonderful.

Already Broken :(
I've only had this item since late March of this year. I never take it out of my car and yet it already has a crack in the plastic where I tighten the grip on the ball for the mount and the plastic for the slot that goes into the CD player is warped. I know it wasn't too expensive but I did expect more from 22 dollars.

Holder works great!
Been looking for a cell phone holder for my car and found this. It's quick to install/uninstall. Holds my phone well and I don't have to worry about suction cups or a mount where I need to make modifications to my car.Nice features:-quick installation/uninstallation if necessary-2 feet that swing open/close. this is good since you could use one or both feet depending on where your charging & headphone ports are on your phone-adjustable to fit various phone sizes-360 degree swivel has a clicking action. easy rotation between landscape and portrait for the phoneWorked great on my 2004 Acura TL with navigation
