Really impressed - lovely flowers
We grew these over lockdown and were really impressed - something for the children to get excited about. It took a little while for them to start sprouting but, when they did, about 15-20 little shoots came up, so very quickly needed to buy 20 x 10cm flower pots and compost. After re-potting them they didn't grow for a week-ten days, but I suspect this was just them taking root again. We grew them in a south facing window and never changed out of 10cm pots so they grew to about two foot and then flowered, I suspect would have gone higher if outdoors, but perfect for a window. We lost a few to disease (I think) so recommend hedging bets and growing a number of the shoots rather than just selecting one. We had perhaps a dozen grow to full height. When we were then going on holiday, at the end of lockdown, we planted outside and some stayed alive for a few more weeks but really they had reached the end of their lives.Recommended

A quick review on sunflowers
Just to show that 3 out of 5 seeds have grown. Seed 4 sprouted but died. Seed 5 grew upside down and rotted, lol. I transplanted the surviving sunflowers to bigger pots and now they're over a foot tall! I don't expect all the seeds in a packet to grow anyway but that's the fun of growing things. I highly recommend these grow your own kits. I also got the Forget Me Not one the month before. At one point it looked like they'd all died, but then a week later they sprung back to life and now are growing every day. So don't give up on your plants, look after them well and they'll surprise you :)

Disappointed
So far not impressed. “Everything you need” is incorrect, as soon as I added water it started to leak everywhere so needed to put it in a pot. It also has no instructions other than add water. The soil did not expand I had to poke and prod at it until it eventually expanded. I got about 10 or so seeds and have planted them all in the tiny pot. Not sure if that’s right as it doesn’t seem like they have much space to grow! But I’ve never done this before so no idea what’s right or wrong.Would be better if they actually came with proper instructions and a pot to put them in.Will update in a few weeks and see if anything grows but so far it seems like a waste of money. Wish I’d gone with the grow your own cactus instead.

Wouldn’t buy again.
So as we are in lockdown thinking of things to do with my son I decided that planting some seeds would be fun. Purchased 2 boxes 2 worked really well but the other did not, the soil would not expand and peeked all over the place so had to throw it in the bin. Now looking to see where I can email seller but there isn’t anywhere, so instead I’m giving a bad review!

So many so fast!
I've never had luck growing plants from seeds before. So I planted all of the seeds they provide in the box, hoping that at least one will start to grow... I had over 15 sprout within a week!!! I dont have a garden so i had to narrow it down to 5 so i could put them in plant pots outside my window! They're in the leaf stage at the moment but i cant wait for the sunflower head to grow soon! Great kit!

Fingers crossed for me
Honestly wasn't expecting much from this but thought it'd be cute if they grew. The pictures are from day 2 and day 3 so definitely working. No instructions with it but just watch the video on the product page if you need it. Did say everything you need is included, but you will definitely need a pot as it's just the hemp one that comes with it. To floof the disc up, I put it in the hemp pot, and put that pot into a mini ice cream dish (had to improvise) filled it with water and broke the disc up after leaving it for 5 minutes. Drain the excess water out and plant the seeds. Will say probably only do half a pack of the seeds, if not less. I've got at least 8 plants to try and separate when they get bigger as I want sure if they'd work. Glad I didn't put the whole pack in lmao

Six weeks since planting and happy with them
Planted around July 13th.All six seeds sprouted within a few days.I repotted them on July 30th to give them more space as the pot is quite small, I should have done this sooner (photo in original coconut husk pot).I had all six in a 7" pot with a little gravel at the bottom to help them drain. After around three weeks I moved them all into their own 7" pot on August 21st.They are currently around 45cm tall, no flowers yet (August 22nd).I water them almost everyday. The packaging doesn't come with much advice at all, only how to plant them and a plant by date. There is not "everything you need inside" as you need to move them to a larger pot quite quickly and you'll need a saucer from the start.Perfect for a small gift but waiting to see how far they actually get.

Looks good but a terrible product.
Packaging looks good but thats where the quality ends. No proper instructions to tell you how much water to add to the 'coconut husk compost disc'. When we added the water nothing happened to the disk and didn't even seem to absorb the water. I've used similar before with a different kit, and it was pretty instant and impressive. I was left with a gloopy mess after breaking up the disk by hand. Once i had sieved this out the remaining 'soil' didn't even fill the pot. This 'kit' comes with a 'coconut husk starter plant pot' which is not water tight so you need a dish or something underneath. The statement on the box that 'everything you need is inside' is false.Having recently bought and used a similar grow your own cactus kit which worked perfectly and came with everything you needed I am really, really disappointed with this grow your own sunflower kit. I will plant the seeds but won't be suprised if they don't grow
