Normally, I prefer funky artisan jewelry, but sometimes a more sophisticated, conservative style is appealing. I have several pieces with the precious October birthstone, opal.Lately I've been captivated by the other October birthstone, tourmaline, a semiprecious gem (except the rare teal blue color, which is usually considered precious) that like opal has a virtual rainbow of color variations depending on how water settles into the stone during its formation. "Watermelon" tourmaline is particularly fascinating.This pink tourmaline pendant matches a set of earrings (which are tiny, about half the size of the pendant), with the same lovely tulip setting. Online, the gem appears to be a slightly different color than in the earrings, but fortunately it matches them perfectly. The gems are highly polished and sparkle with every movement.The combination of rose gold, warm pink tourmaline, and the tulip setting is stunning. And the delicate, sparkly chain adjusts to three different lengths, which is fabulous. The downside of delicate is that handling and fastening this jewelry (both the earrings and necklace) takes some finesse because the settings and clasp are so very tiny!While I'm no gem or jewelry expert, and the listing doesn't specify the gem quality rating (e.g., AA or AAA), I'd guess it's high. And in researching similar alternatives with solid rose gold, I found the pricing reasonable, though I wish the seller would've offered the earrings and necklace (and, possibly, the ring) as a set for a lower price point.I'm happy with this purchase.

I ordered the pink tourmaline ring from the same vendor and it is a gorgeous piece so I thought I'd try to the necklace as well. I ended up returning it because the stone was not as vivid and looked more like morganite than pink tourmaline. The stone is small and between that and the ho-hum color I just didn't think it was worth the $$. Also, because of the small size & lotus setting it flips around on the thin chain provided and it often sits sideways or backward instead of forward when you put it on. A thicker chain might resolve this issue.

The chain is very very thin but all in all it's pretty nice it does not come with any paperwork for any kind of authentication

It’s very lightweight. I love how sparkly it is! It was packaged nicely so it didn’t tangle. Also, it comes with a lovely white box.

I personally don’t think the clarity was very good considering this cost hundreds of dollars.
